Definition of sociology according to some Sociologist are,Sociology is the scientific study of society.It is a social science which concerned with the empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop a systematic body of knowledge about human social activity.
The focus of sociology is on social structure and the influences from society, Which can affect the behaviors of the people, their experiences and the interpretations of the world around them. To study sociology is to learn about how human society are constructed and where our believes and daily routines come from and how our social identities are formed.So sociology is basically the study of people and how we interact with each others. Sociology technically is the systematic study of human groups and social life in new modern society’s. It is concerned with the study of social institution. Sociology also includes the study of human interaction and society.
American heritage dictionary: “The study of human social behaviors, specially the study of origins, organization, institutions and development of human society.”
Dressler: “Sociology is the scientific study of human interaction , It is also the body of knowledge about human interaction resulting from such study.”Giner : “The purpose of sociology is the scientific study of human society. Through the investigation of peoples social behavior.”Eugene Gordon: “Sociology is the study of human group of life.”Anthony Giddens defined sociology as: “Sociology is a social science, having as its main focus the study of the social institution brought into being by the industrial transformations of the past two or three centuries.”
To summarize this concept, we may say that, Sociology is a social science concerned with the study of human social relationships and the ways these relationships are patterned in terms of social groups, organization and societies.
